Kenny Poole
From his album
"For George, A Tribute
to a Master"
"Just you, Just me"
Playing his Virtuoso with Kent Armstrong Floating Humbucker with Adjustable Pole Pieces
Kenny Poole discovered the music of George Van Eps when he was sixteen, and it was a major turning point in his life. Although he is not a household name, George Van Eps, who invented the seven string guitar, is widely acknowledged among jazz guitar enthusiasts to be one of the greatest guitarists of all time.
Tribute to a Master features Kenny Poole playing solo guitar on ten of the tracks and accompanied by drummer, John Von Ohlen and vibist, Dick Sisto on the remaining five tracks. The selections on the CD were songs either performed or admired by Mr. Van Eps as a fitting tribute to him. While sure to be a classic among jazz guitar fans, For George:Tribute to a Master will be appreciated by anyone who loves good music.
"Guitarist Kenny Poole's solos are exquisite, harmonically sophisticated and full of momentum and purpose."
Scott Yanow, Editor, All Music Guide to Jazz
"A beautiful disc-the culmination of the 33 years Kenny Poole has spent loving the music of jazz pioneer, George Van Eps."
