Playing his Virtuoso with Signature Floating Humbucker
Barry Greene grew up in North Bergen, New Jersey, and started to play the guitar when he was ten years old. Strongly influenced by Wes Montgomery, George Benson, and Pat Martino, Barry has devloped into a world-class guitarist. He has performed on the Jacksonville, Clearwater, Naples, Sarasota, Savannah, Gainesville, and Pocono jazz festivals, and has recorded and performed with such artists as Nat Adderly, Benny Golson, Phil Woods, Jack Wilkins, Kenny Drew, Jr., Adam Nussbaum, Colin Bailey, Warren Bernhardt, Russell Malone, Gene Bertoncini, Kenny Poole, and Jimmy Bruno.
Barry Greene's debut solo CD, "Sojourner," was released in late 1998 and has been well received by the press, which led to his inclusion on the Southern Arts Federation's "Jazz South" project (released in February of 1999). His artistry can also be heard on Jack Wilkins' album "Artwork" (Koch Jazz label) and "Surge" with Chuck Owen and the Jazz Surge (Sea Breeze Records), as well as several other CD releases.
After attending Berklee College of Music Barry Greene received his B.M. in 1984 from William Paterson College under the direction of Rufus Reid. His M.M. was earned in 1995 at the University of South Florida at which time he was the adjunct applied guitar instructor. Currently Greene is the Assistant Professor of Jazz Guitar at the University of North Florida, recognized by jazz educators as one of the finest schools in the nation. Barry is also on the faculty of the renowned "National Summer Guitar Workshop" and a proud endorser of Buscarino Guitars and Thomastik-Infeld strings.
