The Custom Grand Cabaret

This guitar was built for guitar collector Keith Moore. Keith, who owns several Buscarinos as well as numerous flat tops and classicals made by various makers, came to John looking for something special to add to his collection.

John was lucky enough to get his hands on a rare and exotic piece of Tasmanian Black Acacia and decided to turn it into a one-of-a -kind Cabaret. To this wood John added a Cedar top to complement the color in the Black Acacia and to give a nice warm timbre to the sound of the instrument.

Keith loved the look of Snakewood with Acacia so John continued this motif throughout using a Snakewood headstock veneer, fingerboard, bridge, Oval soundhole Rosette and Tuner buttons. The guitar was bound with Curly Koa and stainless steel fret wire was used on the fingerboard.

This Custom Grand Cabaret was made from Master Grade Exotic Macassar Ebony back and sides with an Aged and Seasoned Cedar top. For artistic purposes John decided to go with an Oval hole instead of the more traditional round sound hole and he added a custom Sound hole rosette with Snakewood and Mother-of- Pearl. The guitar features Macassar Ebony binding throughout the guitar as well as a Macassar Ebony headstock veneer and fingerboard. The bridge is made of Snakewood as is the tuner buttons. All the features together present a stunning instrument that sounds as good as it looks.

This guitar was bought by William Wraith (who incidently already owns 3 Cabarets). William couldn't resist the draw of the Macassar Ebony with the oval Hole and Cedar top.
