This is a Custom Artisan built for Buscarino endorser Bob Gallo. Bob came to John looking for an archtop guitar that would be the perfect gigging guitar. He wanted one with a built in pickup, a thinner body than a typical archtop, and one that was built to minimize feedback.
This guitar was built with a 16" body width and 2 ½" sides. It is made of highly figured Flame Maple back and sides and an aged Sitka Spruce top. The fingerboard, bridge, tailpiece and pickguard are made of solid Ebony. The neck has 20 frets and joins the body at the 14th fret. The fingerboard is adorned with Virtuoso Inlays.
John went with a lock top design, which consists of a block in the center of the guitar that locks the top to the back virtually eliminating feedback. He also installed a built-in Kent Armstrong pickup with parallel wiring. |
